Martensitic

Martensitic stainless steels have high resistance to atmospheric oxidation environments, without substantially decreasing hardness (up to 500°C). This means that they can be used in operations that require resistance to high-temperatures.

Because of this characteristic, they are used in the food, beverage, chemical, petrochemical, machinery and equipment industries. It can be used in cutlery items, shafts, surgical instruments, screws, nuts, blades and other parts for steam turbines, as well as valves and valve rods.

Villares Metals supplies the following martensitic stainless steels:

VC140

Steel featuring high mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance. Used in steam valves and rods, nuts, as well as in screws and studs used by the oil industry.

V416

Corrosion resistant martensitic steel, similar to VC140, with addition of sulfur for improved machinability.

VC150

Standard steel for table knives and cutlery in general. It has high corrosion resistance when hardened.

V420F

Corrosion resistant martensitic stainless steel, similar to VC150, with addition of sulfur for improved machinability.

V440C

High-C martensitic stainless steel for higher hardness and addition of Cr for improved corrosion properties, primarily used in cutlery.

V431

Martensitic stainless steel with addition of Ni for improved corrosion, toughness and hardenability properties. Used in aircraft parts, greater LE and shock resistance.

N4123

Martensitic stainless steel with high C and additions of Mo and N which provide high strengh and high corrosion resistance. Used in bi-fuel injection nozzles parts.

N4923

Martensitic stainless steel with added Ni, V and Mo for high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance at moderate temperatures. Used in steam turbine blades.
