The medical industry is complex and requires different approaches. Therefore, it imposes strict requirements, which Villares Metals is able to comply with. Stainless steels produced for this purpose are, for instance, controlled by an integrated production system and rely on the support of the Research and Development Center in order to find the optimal solution for each case.
For surgical instruments and implants, the following steels and special alloys are offered: VI138, VI58329 e VF562QI. They show high corrosion resistance and therefore are used in rods, joints, screws, bolts and clamp plates.
Used in surgical implants and prostheses, the alloy also applies when the combination of high corrosion resistance with high mechanical strength is required, such as in marine cables, aviation cables and springs.
This alloy has the same application as the 138 VI alloy. However, when solubilized, this alloy has about three times the pitting corrosion resistance of the VI 138 and about twice its the mechanical strength.
