The initiative reaffirms the company's commitment to a better world

On April the 19th, Villares Metals, a reference in special steel and specialty alloy solutions, promoted the planting of 350 seedlings of native species in Sumaré, where its headquarters is located.

The initiative reaffirms the company’s commitment to future generations and celebrates its nearly eight-decade-long trajectory, which will be celebrated in 2024. To symbolize this renewal, 80 employees from the #SteelTeam participated in the event, including young people aged 18 to 21 from the Formare Apprentice program, which prepares students for the work environment, and employees celebrating work anniversaries in 2023 and 2024 (10, 20, 30, and 40 years).

The event took place at the ADC Villares Metals Club, a company employee club created to promote outdoor leisure. The initiative aligns directly with Villares Metals' values: making the world a better place and valuing people.

Tree planting, especially urban reforestation, is an efficient way to combat climate change, promoting quality of life, well-being and stress reduction. Employees came together to carry out a positive action for the city and the environment, revitalizing leisure spaces and contributing to future preservation. The planting was carried out after the renovation of the club's common areas.

 Environmental and Social Responsibility

In pursuit of sustainable development, Villares Metals is constantly in the process of updating and certifying its Energy Management System (EMS) to continuously improve the energy efficiency of its facilities. Energy performance has always been a crucial aspect for the company, which has had an Internal Energy Conservation Commission (CICE) since 2006.

Sustainability is a fundamental mission for Villares Metals, which adopts practices such as the use of metal scrap as the main raw material, water reuse, proper waste disposal, and careful evaluation of suppliers. Other practices include raising employee awareness, solutions for generated waste, and selective waste collection, all aiming to minimize or eliminate environmental impacts.

In addition, the company invests in quality of life and well-being programs for its employees and their families, apprenticeship programs for young talents, and support for social projects, maintaining an active presence in the communities where it operates.
