For the segment of capital goods, Villares Metals produces forgings of up to 24 tons, as well as rolled steel bars consisting of engineering and high-alloy steels. These items are suitable to the following sub-segments: mining, steel making, pulp and paper.
For the Mining industry, for instance, it manufactures tapered and straight shafts for crushers, bucket wheels, driving wheels for shoe feeders, fork-lifts and reclaimers, as well as rods for rock drilling machines. These items consist basically of carbon and engineering steels: SAE1045, SAE4140, SAE4330V and SAE4340. There are also rolled bars for crusher mill, consisting of modified SAE1095 carbon steel and martensitic stainless steel.
The Pulp and Paper industries require forged and bored bars (trepanation) in corrugating rolls (body and sleeves) for corrugated cardboard and also in shafts for paper calendering. The following steels are used for that: SAE1030, SAE1045, SAE4140 and SAE4150.
The Steel industry requires blanks or mill rolls for cold (eutectoid steel) and hot (hipereutectoid steels) rolling - in steels cast by the conventional process or remelted by the ESR process. Calender shafts, straightener rolls and material transport in rolling and continuous casting are also part of the orders. Not to forget trunnions of ladles, couplings, sleeves and spindle noses in rolling pipes and shafts for refractory pressing screws. The following steels are used for that: SAE1035, SAE1045, SAE1522, SE4140, SAE4340, DIN1.6587, DIN1.8070 and DIN1.6580.
