TENAX300IM: superior results in various applications

When it comes to the performance and optimisation of industrial tools, TENAX300IM is the first choice. The material was initially developed for use in tooling that is exposed to high temperatures, such as the extrusion of non-ferrous alloys, the casting of non-ferrous alloys and the hot forging of metals. It is now used in other segments of the industry, such as plastic processing moulds that require optical mirror polishing grades or applications for machine components. With its greater toughness, high heat resistance and excellent response to heat treatment, the material delivers quality and safety to the process, as it fulfils the requirements of NADCA certification #207 – 2022 Grade E (North American Die Casting Association).

Here are some examples of TENAX300IM applications::

Case 1: Manufacture of automotive components using the pressure injection process for aluminium alloys. The tool’s failure mechanism is usually predominantly thermal fatigue cracks. The solution found was to adapt (replace) the tool material to TENAX300IM due to its greater toughness, while maintaining the heat treatment and hardness conditions. The result was a 150% productivity gain compared to the material used previously.

Case 2: Manufacture of structures for use in the military, using the aluminium alloy extrusion process. Tool failure was predominantly due to cracks. The solution found was to use TENAX300IM, due to its greater toughness, while maintaining the hardness previously applied and adapting the heat treatment cycle to NADCA #207 – 2022 Grade E. The result was a 900% gain compared to the previous material and the new TENAX300IM tool is still in operation, with no need for replacement.

Case 3: Application to pistons used in the manufacture of refractories, at the pressing stage. The predominant fault with the material used previously was cracking. By replacing the material with TENAX300IM, aiming for greater toughness while maintaining hardness and heat treatment conditions, a 1100% gain could be seen over the previously used material, with production continuing without failure.
